New Updates

It's been more than two months since we last updated this blog. A lot happened during these two months!

1. Desmond is finally walking! Actually he started walking shortly after we arrived in Indonesia in December. He was very reluctant to walk by himself at first, but circumstances forced him to do so... because mommy was removed from him so if he wanted to find mommy and didn't want to crawl on the cold marble stones, he had to walk. It's true that once your child learns to walk, you'd wish time can rewind to the days when they can't walk. Oh well, despite that, it's very cute to watch him walk, especially in the beginning. He was using his hands to steer and sometimes he'd end up in the wrong side of the room! Of course, over the past two months, he's became more skillful in walking now. There's really no stopping him to go anywhere anymore!

2. Desmond (and the rest of family) learned that there'll be another "Yeh" soon! In fact, we just learned that he's going to have a little brother. We're all very excited! Believe it or not, mommy loves to be surrounded by boys! Including our beloved dog, Momo, I'll soon be surrounded by 4 males! haha. We're all hoping that this little guy will be healthy and smart, like his big brother, Desmond! Do we have a name picked out yet? Of course! We picked out a boy's name even before Desmond was born! It's like we already knew we'll have another boy, haha.

3. Desmond never failed to fascinate me. He's learning new things and words everyday! He may not be pronouncing them very clearly, but I can tell when he is trying to say the following:
"mum mum" = food (he got this down many many months ago!)
"nai nai" = milk (he just picked this one up a couple days ago. Used to be that he'll say "mum mum" and you'll have to guess if he wants food, or milk or water or snacks. He started referring to milk as "nai nai" the other day. Hopefully this will continue to eliminate some of the confusions)
"da da" = to hit
"baa baa" = dad
"mom mom mom" = mom! (but he only says it when he cries for help)
"bao bao" = to carry him (he'll also reach out his arms when he says "bao bao" so you know he wants you to pick him up)
"woo woo" = dog, Momo, Tyra, or any other animal he points to
"a jin" = dolphin (okay, I don't really know how to type out this sound but I know he's referring to dolphin when he says this because we have a picture of dolphins in the house and he'll say this whenever he points to them)
"ball ball" = ball
"baa ba" = baby (when I asked him where's baby, he'll point to my tummy and say this. I know it doesn't sound like "baby" but at least he's got the first part right)
"tek" = kick
"ning ning" = anything that turns, like fans or wheels

Here's a list of other things that he can identify but not know of the words yet (at least I haven't figure out how to associate what he says with what he points). These are all the things that he will point to when you say the word and ask him where it is.
- butterfly
- sun
- shoes
- socks
- clothes
- sit
- ears
- mouth
- eyes
- head
- nose
- book
- water
- grandpa
- grandma
- Matthew gor gor
- chair
I'm sure I'm forgetting some but you see, he's really learning a lot! I really do feel like I can carry on a conversation with him and he'll understand me. (I may not understand him though).

I'm truly fascinated! Oh it's so much fun to play with him now!

4. One more thing - he doesn't stop talking!!! Most days when we come home after work around 6pm, we'd be hearing him talking non-stop until bedtime, which is 8:30pm! From talking to my parents, he does that during the day too! The only time when he'll stop talking is when he sleeps! Oh geez,
